My pottery is a reflection of my love of gardening. The fresh scent of newly turned soil is evident in the clay I use. An exhilarating walk in the garden with its pungent smells and organic textures influences my creative approach in pottery.
I often embellish my pieces by pressing fresh sprigs of herbs or flowers such as rosemary or bleeding heart on to the surface of the clay, enhancing the natural design. My pottery is functional and practical. It is designed for daily use. Simple forms that are versatile and are for the home and for the garden. Favorites include large bowls and bird bottles. It is an expression of color, texture, space, design, emotion and history that my pottery embodies, evolving from people and places that influence my life.
My studio overlooks the garden and I remain inspired by the fresh possibilities nature brings. Just as my plants are at home in my country garden, I am at home at my wheel, devoted to a rhythm of beauty and vitality. My personal exploration in clay has been an exciting adventure and provides rich and unexpected experiences. As an artist I am thrilled when my vision materializes from clay, that my garden has worked its way into my pottery and continues to inspire me.
I am a member of Granby Artists Association, Granby, CT, Expressions Pottery Workshop and Gallery, East Granby, CT and the CT Centered Group of Potters.
I have exhibited/sold my pottery at Expressions Pottery Gallery, East Granby, CT, Farmington Valley Arts Center, Avon, CT, Indigo Images, Granby, CT, Flowers n’ Such, Granby, CT, Holcomb Farm, West Granby, CT, and at my home studio.
