Artist Statement: I have always been interested in details of life; each one associated with it’s own history – first as a living thing or a part of a useful possession – then, as a castoff in our increasingly disposable society. After years spent seeing the world as a graphic designer and photographer, many of the details I’ve been filing away inside were asking to be let out. When I started paying attention and making time to experiment with them, these pieces kind of found their way out on their own. My creative process keeps me from being limited to one technique or approach because I don’t need to have total control over the finished product. I put a lot of trust in spontaneity and improvisation to keep leading me in the right direction.
