Sculpture

The first group of work that I plan to focus on started in 2001 and was motivated by my daughter Olivia who was born on April 26, 1999. I was inspired to copy her messy brushstroke paintings and make them into large three-dimensional sculptures. The process of going from 2 dimensions to 3 dimensions was quite a procedure but also a great success. This year I will take other children’s drawings and ideas and recreate them into 3-D sculptures that are contained in an appropriate environment. The first two sculptural
pieces [completed in January 2007], were a great success; they won first and second price at a local art show.

The second group of sculptures will be a continuation of my “Clothesline” series. I have been making these 1/8” thick; hand hammered and textured three-dimensional pieces of aluminum clothes for the last 10 years. The clothes, mostly woman’s, will be either hung on a suspended cable or framed and matted with a piece of gun blued steel.
